Seven Million Wonders

“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child.
...There are seven million.”
– Walt Streightiff
Wonder
This is the fuel
of curiosity
of learning
of exploration
And... I am discovering... you don't have to stare at a starry sky to feel awe and wonder.
Such things unfold before us everywhere, no?
This month
I share my every-day moments of wonder with you.
Each link
An invitation to share in the wonder that inhabits your cup of tea.
-and-
An inspiration to tune-in to your own moments of wonder.
*Background music in each link is also my gift to you. My harp music: the first wonder of your day!*
Hibiscus
“Flowers whisper ‘Beauty!’ to the world.”– Dr. SunWolf
I love hibiscus blossoms.
They don't do "small."They burst.
Everyday.
When I pick them each day I can almost hear them say to me:"I did it just to make you smile."
And I love that I can share them with you.
“Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful;
they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.”
– Luther Burbank
How do flowers do that?
Raspberries
"These berries are like magic." -Berry Magic, Teri Sloat
Berries are childhood.
I loved reading berry books to my little girls.
The children's book "Berry Magic" tells the Yup'ik tale of how berries came to the north country.
By moonlight...
Little Anana
Sings and dances
Each berry
Across the tundra
"Her heart overflows with joy... as berries spread from hill to hill."
*oh, little Anana, I understand*
Pineapple Sage
"The act of smelling something, anything, is remarkably like the act of thinking." -Lewis Thomas
Right?
How does the smell of this plant evoke such wonder?
One thing I have learned to appreciate as an herbal tea farmer is my sense of smell.
I breath deep... a lot.
"Immediately at the moment of perception, you can feel the mind...
GOING to work
SENDING the odor around from place to place
SETTING OFF complex repertories through the brain
POLLING one center after another
For signs of recognition
For old memories and old connection."
- Lewis Thomas
As we move through this day, I wonder...
How many will we notice?
In gratitude this month, I offer you my music.
A soundtrack for your day.
Wonder shared together. My Gift of Wonder Playlist
As always:
Thank you
I'm honored to be your herbal tea farmer.
Be well,
Shannon
